Statement of support
Engagement with the EITI
Newcrest Mining is an active member of the respective country’s multi-stakeholder groups (MSG) in Papua New Guinea and Indonesia. In Papua New Guinea, the company supported and assisted with the development of Papua New Guinea’s submission to become an EITI candidate country.
As a supporting member of the EITI, Newcrest publicly discloses revenue and benefits generated in accordance with relevant national regulations and the EITI Standard. Newcrest Mining will continue to engage with the EITI Secretariat and review possibilities for international engagement with the EITI.
Newcrest believes that greater public transparency, governance and accountability concerning revenues generated and paid by extractive industries to host countries supports communities in monitoring how revenue is being distributed. As part of Newcrest’s commitment to the EITI, the company publishes its annual tax contribution report, which sets out mining royalties and taxes paid across all its operating jurisdictions.
Newcrest’s code of conduct, corporate governance framework and company policies aim to protect against illegal and inappropriate behaviours such as fraud, bribery, corruption, discrimination and bullying. They also serve to articulate its position on safety, health, human rights, environment, communities, security and diversity and inclusion.
