The Board agreed to extend the contract of CowaterSogema International as the Independent Validator for the 2019 Validations. This recommendation is based on the small number of first Validations scheduled for 2019 and the Independent Validator’s satisfactory performance with regards to the 2018 Validations. The appointment is subject to successful contract negotiations.

The EITI Board adopted a revised Summary data template, to be required for EITI reporting on, or after, 1 July 2019.

The Board-approved summary data template is the EITI’s tool for collecting and publishing structured extractive sector data. The revised template draws on experience gained since the introduction of the summary data template in 2015 and on stakeholder consultations conducted in late 2018 and early 2019.

Although Tanzania is not facing exceptional circumstances to be eligible for an extension of its second Validation deadline under Requirement 8.5 of the EITI Standard, the Board agrees that Tanzania’s second Validation will commence on 1 July 2019. Tanzania’s second Validation was scheduled to begin on 25 April 2019. In taking this decision, the Board considered the progress made towards meeting the deadline and alignment between Validation and deadlines for EITI reporting.

The Board agreed that Liberia is ineligible for an extension of Validation under Requirement 8.5 of the EITI Standard.

Noting concerns regarding EITI implementation and adherence to the EITI’s requirements on multi-stakeholder group oversight, in accordance with requirement 8.6, the Board has tasked the International Secretariat with undertaking a review of Liberia’s adherence to requirements 1.1 – 1.5 on government engagement, company engagement, civil society engagement, multi-stakeholder group oversight and EITI work plans.

The EITI Board accepts Iraq multi-stakeholder group’s request for adapted implementation with respect to the Kurdistan Region. The request is granted for the reporting period 2016-2018. Thereafter, the Iraq multi-stakeholder group should review progress and consider whether a further request is necessary.
