The EITI Board concluded that the Republic of the Congo is not eligible for an extension request. The delayed 2016 EITI Report was published on 18 February 2019 and the suspension was not enforced, in accordance with previous practice.

The Board agreed that Chris Murgatroyd, Deputy Head, Governance, Open Societies and Anti-Corruption Department, Economic Development Division at the Department for International Development (DFID, United Kingdom), is to succeed Judith Herbertson from the constituency of supporting countries as a Board member with immediate effect until the renewed nominations at the Global Conference in Paris in June.

The Board agreed that Mali is eligible for an extension of its second Validation deadline, due to exceptional circumstances that led to significant delays in EITI implementation in the year 2018. Mali’s second Validation, initially scheduled to start on 28 November 2018, will now begin on 28 February 2019. The Secretariat will take into consideration, to the extent possible, all publicly available information up to 28 February 2019.
