Communications Officer (website)

The EITI International Secretariat is seeking an organised and creative digitally-minded professional for a period of 8- months starting in April 2021 for the position of Communication Officer. This full-time, fixed-term position is based in Oslo and will report to the Communications Director.

The successful candidate will provide cover for the website communications officer, who is taking parental leave. This role will manage the EITI website www.eiti.org and the completion of an exciting website redesign and migration project scheduled to launch in August 2021. The redesign and migration project started in April 2020 and the candidate will focus on completing the final stages of the project, including a successful launch. Following the launch, the successful candidate will continue to manage the website and will work with internal stakeholders to provide training on the new content management system (Drupal 9). This role works with a diverse range of stakeholders and will require close collaboration with an external development team and EITI’s data, policy, country and senior management teams.

Country Officer for Latin-America and the Caribbean

The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) International Secretariat is now recruiting a full-time Country Officer for Latin-America and the Caribbean (LAC) to join the office in Oslo, Norway.

This position offers the chance to work in an international and vibrant working environment helping citizens of resource-rich countries benefit from their natural resources and to work on subjects at the cutting edge of development and the extractive industry.

Country Officers support EITI activities, both directly by the International Secretariat and through partners, in a portfolio of countries. At present, the EITI is being implemented in 55 countries and several other countries are expected to join in the future.  

In addition to geographical duties, Country Officers support on specific policy and thematic issues related to extractive sector governance. They also support the International Secretariat’s work on management, finance, training, communication, and research.  

We are looking for a team player, structured, resourceful, data driven and with sharp analytical skills, who can coordinate support and build and maintain relations with stakeholders in EITI member countries in a portfolio of countries in the region (could include Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago and others as needed). The applicant should also demonstrate knowledge on issues related to extractive sector governance.

Communications Officer (Programme support)

The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) International Secretariat is recruiting a Communications Officer. The successful candidate will work as part of the EITI communications team, supporting the communications activities of the International Secretariat. A major part of the role will be the provision of communications support to a new global programme – Opening Extractives.

Opening Extractives is an ambitious global programme launched by the EITI and its partner organisation Open Ownership. It aims to end the use of anonymous companies linked to corruption and mismanagement in the extractive sector. Closing this channel for corruption can boost the ability of the sector to contribute to development. 

The programme will support 8-10 resource-rich countries in developing systems to disclose high quality beneficial ownership data, build capacity of stakeholders to analyse the data, and mobilise global support for beneficial ownership transparency.

The Communications Officer will work to raise awareness of the programme and the importance of beneficial ownership, build and leverage political commitment, communicate key project milestones to global and country-level stakeholders, share technical information in an accessible format and stimulate cross learning and the wider application of best practice.

The application deadline is 24 of February 2021. First interviews will be held in late February/early March.
