The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) is a global standard aimed at promoting the open and accountable management of a country’s oil, gas and mineral resources. The Prime Minister, David Cameron announced the UK’s intention to comply with EITI in May 2013 during the G8 presidency. One year after the first meeting of the UK Multi Stakeholder Group in October 2014, the UK was recognised as a candidate country at the 28th EITI Board Meeting in Myanmar. The UK’s first EITI report was published on the 15 April.
